March Madness and More!

March 15, 2022

Are you looking forward to the longer days and warmer temps of spring?  As the excitement of college basketball playoffs goes into full swing this month, March also marks the 27th year of commemorating Women’s History Month! While our nation celebrates the women who played pivotal roles in history, it’s also a great reminder to recognize and thank the women in our day-to-day lives who have made an impact on us as well.

On March 17th, if you plan to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by watching parades, enjoying green beer, or filling up on corned beef and cabbage, you may be surprised to learn about the origins of many of today’s popular St. Patrick’s Day traditions. What first began as a religious feast day in Ireland in the 17th century has since taken on a life of its own here in America!

Valentine’s Day may brand February as the month of love, but one of the most romantic locations on earth, the Eiffel Tower, was completed in March. On March 31, 1889, it became the tallest manmade structure in the world. Ironically, during its bid for construction the tower was actually a source of major controversy, including objections from prominent artists, writers and engineers who called it a “hateful column of bolted sheet metal.” It has since become one of the most beloved monuments and is a worldwide symbol of love for many couples!

With April right around the corner, don’t forget you can still make catch-up contributions to traditional and Roth IRAs, as well as HSAs. You have until April 15th to max out the 2021 contribution limits listed here.

Wishing you a happy “wearin’ o’ the green” and, as always, if there’s anything you need help with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
